What can we do when we feel suffering, stress, or pain – our own; another’s; or even the world’s?
The answer taught the Buddha, lies in the heart of pain itself.
And he prescribed a revolutionary healing system that is the basis for TONGLEN – a Tibetan Breathing Meditation Practice. Tonglen transforms our deepest pain into compassion where the healing of all suffering truly begins.
While studying in India & Nepal, Meditation Teacher, Anthony Profeta, deepened his knowledge of Tonglen meditation. Tonglen means “giving & taking” and begins with a heart devoted to helping others.
On the in-breath, we take on the suffering of a person who is hurting or who we want to help. Then on the out-breath, we send that person happiness, joy & /or whatever else would relieve their pain.
The practice of Tonglen breaks down barriers between “self” and “others” and is considered one of the bravest practices we can do. In fact, this radical, heart-opening practice is an especially good medicine for the current sufferings of our planet & society.
